Master K recently recently received this moving testimonial from a former student that he re-connected with after many years: "Master K,
I am glad that you found me on Facebook. It has been a long time, I am guessing about nine years. Since I last saw you I have completed my Master’s degree in Counseling and I work for the Circuit Court as a therapist for Juvenile Delinquents and their families. I have wanted to write you for a long time. I wanted to thank you for all that you have done for me. You have been a big part of my life for a long time.
When I was a child you helped me with my fear and insecurities. In a time when I was unsure of myself, you guided and encouraged me to grow and become more than what I thought was possible.
When I was a teenager, you taught me to deal with anger and the changes that were going on around me and within me. When most kids were experimenting with drugs and alcohol I focused on training and self-control. Through it all, I had a place to go where dedication and focus cleared away the temptations. You guided me into adulthood.
When I was in my twenties, your model of discipline and self-control gave me a foundation on which I became a man. You taught me to stay in the center of the ring and control the distance. You taught me how to get out of a corner. You taught me to go beyond being exhausted. You taught me to think through the most difficult situations. You taught me to stay calm and focused.
At times you were like a father to me. You helped me achieve and believe in myself. I am a better man for knowing you. I may not be training with you now, but I hope that my work with teenagers and their families honors what you mean to me.
I have a picture of you and I in my office, my boxing gloves hang on the back of my door. Every kid I work with hears some story of how you affected my life.
Forever your student,
Respectfully,
Kevin J. Kloka" |
